Working, Dating, Birthdaying, BBQing, Peeing in Cups
- It makes money. Duh. Why do people get jobs?
- It keeps me occupied throughout the day. Before I had this job I spent all day sleeping, facebooking, reading fml and textsfromlastnight, eating, listening to my dad yell at heather about not having a job, doing household chores, driving siblings places, shopping ( I used to like the Columbia mall... I think I need a full two months to purge), being bored... I was not very productive.
- It makes me feel smart. Not to insult mall jobs or food service jobs, which are great, I have had both, but I feel like this job is more... professional? I think that is the word I am looking for. It is a very big responsibility, I think, to work with that much money at a time. I think that is good for me, too, because I think I shy away from responsibility that could end up getting me in trouble. If I lost the money in my drawer, I couldn't blame anyone but myself, and I think that is good for me. This job forces me to be very vigilant in caring for "my" money.
- It makes me use a lot of my talents. Not only does it use my math and money- counting abilities, it also uses my socializing abilities. That's my favorite part. I love talking to the customers that are nice and telling them happy birthday when their licenses tell me it's their birthdays. I love earning stars for being nice to them. I even like to listen to them tell me their life stories, or about their grandchildren. And sometimes I even think it's funny when the guys hit on me.
- I have a lot of fun at work. Example: We just got new bluetooth head sets for the drive thru. So, technically, we don't have to stand at the window for the customers to see us. On Saturday, one of the guy tellers, Daniel, and I, decided to have him stand in the window and mouth the words while I talked into the bluetooth so it looked like he had a really high voice. It was so funny. I also love to eat the lollipops and I think all the smiling I do to be nice is good for me too. It makes me happy.

What I have been up to
- I found out I got a 3.99 gpa!!
- I called my various banks and worked out online banking, and activation of cards and online banking and stuff. I also found money in an account I didn't know I had, which is even better than finding money in your jeans pocket in my opinion :)
- I called PNC and made sure everything was lined up for working there this summer. I love my job!!!
- I called NIH and tried to schedule healthy volunteer studies. Even though they love my healthy little self, it has been difficult to get an actual appointment which is sad because from previous posts you should know my obsession with NIH.
- I have basically memorized fml.com.
- I went to my sisters's play, Into the Woods. They were amazing, of course. As was everyone else :)
- I organized my clothes and they now have temporary homes.
- I tried to delete friends on facebook that I never talk to. i couldn't bring myself to do it. I think it's because I wonder, what if I want to stalk them in the future???? What will I do? Stupid, huh?
- Speaking of Facebook, I have become a frequent chatter from the hours of like 11pm- 4am. Usually, there are assorted amazing boys that I talk to and sometimes roomies. My Aunt Carol got on one time too, and we talked from like 2:30-4:30. It was so fun! I tend to wake up around noon? Sometimes it fluctuates, I think it's gotten to 2pm too. Disgusting I know. But, you have to understand that I have no real reason to wake up early. I am entertained by the people I talk to at such late hours, and if they are not going to be entertaining me from 5am- noon, why shouldn't I sleep then? It seems like an effective use of my time to me. Even though I have been trying to change it because I feel ridiculous.
- I have watched a lot of The Office and 30 Rock. I never watched 30 Rock before, but Nicole recommended it. It's pretty funny. I tried to get Better off Ted, but I don't have Internet Explorer, so I couldn't. I haven't gotten around to installing it. Or Firefox. I also watched Lie to Me with my daddy. He was just tickled about it.
- I went to institute like a good little girl. No one really talked to us, though, even though, clearly we were so cute and nice. Whateverrrr.
- I went on a 3-4 mile walk with my mom :).
- I walked from the elementary school to the middle school, back to the elementary school, and then back home. It was 3 miles. I got 2 blisters and my heels are both cut from my stupid shoes. I had a grand total of 8 bandaids on my feet the whole time.
- When I went to these schools, I ate lunch with my brothers. Their friends all told them we were really hot. I kind of wish boys my age were as ridiculously attracted to me as my brothers's friends. One who is always mean to Joseph asked if he wanted to come over, or better yet, if he could come over to our house and "hang out with your sisters". Sounds fun...
- I made chicken parmagiana and pizza for my siblings. The chicken parmagiana was gone in seconds. The pizza is almost gone I guess. Not as popular though.
- I successfully negotiated being able to sleep on the couch for the summer. This is remarkable because my dad loves that couch. Next to his projector screen, it's like his favorite child. I am supposed to put sheets on it, use my own pillow, and wake up by 9 so it looks like I was never there. Sometimes I do the sheets. I rarely do the pillow thing, because I hate our pillows. And I NEVER wake up by 9. It is my dad's favorite idle threat to say he will wake us up early. Haha. I love it.
- I got a cell phone charger! And a camera charger, but my camera still does not work :(.
- I learned how to effectively survive on a diet of nachos with a variety of dips, and low fat ice cream. It's been fun. Also, Maple Pecan Crunch cereal, and trail mix whenever I go visit my dad (downstairs in his basement office). When my mom cooks dinner, I eat that too.
- I visited my old ward. We skipped the 2nd meeting and opted to sit in the sun, but I visited nonetheless. I also researched the D.C. Singles ward. We might end up going there.
- I was home taught. That is noteworthy, because my entire family makes it a point to be bratty about being home taught. One of my siblings who will not be named said dad would tell them when home teachers would come, and that he wanted everyone awake and participating when they did. The kids would all say okay, and then would promptly take naps. If they weren't taking naps right before the home teachers came, everyone would run to their rooms to pretend to be asleep. It is a great struggle for our family to enjoy it. I don't really know why. I like it a lot better in Singles Wards though. What can be better than having not one but two young single men offer to do anything for you and be genuinely eager to do it?
- I went to Baskin Robbins 31 cent scoop night. I got Nicole ice cream because I am the nicest sister :)
- Tonight I am going shopping, tomorrow I am going to a baby shower, and Monday I am babysitting. On Tuesday I plan on visiting the High School. Yay! I also plan on learning how to use the scanner so we can have all of our childhood pictures on our computers. I am very excited about this project, it was my mom's idea. I think it's a little ridiculous that I am such an underacheiver now-a-days that I find that if I do one thing productive a day I feel fulfilled.
- I loved on all my siblings, and talked to Heather a lot.
- I blogged :)

He's Just Not that into You
So I just went out with Heather, Jordan, Winnie, Kelsey, and Christine to color me mine. I think it's actually a really cute place, you pick out some pottery and paint it however you want. I just made a mug. Then, I went to Shoots with them, which is a restaurant Winnie's family owns. It was really very good. Then Bre and Katrina joined us and Kelsey left and we watched He's Just Not that into You at the dollar theater. And that is what this entry is about.
It was literally one of the most thought provoking movies I have ever seen. I am literally re-evaluating all the relationships, romantic and not so much, that I have ever had or almost had. I don't think I'm really like any of the women in that movie, but I feel like they epitomize some of the problems women have with men. And I also thought it was a slap in the face. It was a reality check times a million. I think every girl should watch it, because I can think of a lot of girls who need to realize this. It is not anything like your regular chick flick that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy at the end because he really was into the girl, and they are going to live happily ever after. Because that’s not really how it works.
I thought it was so ridiculously realistic it was almost painful to watch. Like everything the girls in that movie say to their friends to make them feel better about a guy are things I’ve told my friends or I have been told. But, the real reason was he just wasn’t that into them. Or me.
And that was depressing because how many guys actually haven’t been into me or them and we deluded ourselves to believe they were? What if no one ever really liked us? What if they were just trying to let us down easy, or had no idea what was going on because they didn’t really care at all? I feel like this movie shows everything we already know, but don’t believe, or don’t allow ourselves to believe. How we convince ourselves either that he is telling the truth, and does like us but just needs time. Or how we convince ourselves that he is lying and really, underneath all of that not calling or taking us out, he really does like us. Somewhere deep down inside.
Because clearly, if he doesn’t call, he doesn’t wanna talk to us, and he is just not that into us. But we don’t care, because we still believe in all the lies we tell ourselves and each other without even realizing it. We totally feed the fire for it. Whenever I have said that to a girl, I think I believed it. But it’s because that’s how we are trained our entire life; if a guy treats us like crap, it’s because he likes us. Really girls?! But we totally believe it.
Like, I have tons of girls who I talk to about their relationship or non- relationship drama, and as I go through all of them now, my view is totally changing. Because maybe, it’s not that he’s just confused or stupid or needs time or is intimidated or lost your number or was busy or is shy or just got out of a serious relationship or has never been in a relationship. Maybe, he’s just not that into us.

Thoughts on going home
Mentally: I have taken 5 of my finals already, and finals week hasn't technically even started yet, so I'm feeling pretty good about that. I just have D&C, Advertising, and Accounting left. D&C I'm not really worried about, I will just study for a couple of hours tonight with my darling Kali, and we will ace it tomorrow morning. Tonight I am also going to try to do my advertising study guide section that I have been allotted by a group of people in my class. I am not worried about that either, I just don't wanna put in the time really. But whatever, I will, I always do :) And then accounting, I've always done well but I've been kind of slacking as of late, so hopefully I can get that under control. I'm sure I'm in a lot better shape than a lot of people in that class.
Emotionally: This is by far the hardest part. I am so sad about leaving Provo. When I leave, three things happen that make me sad:
1. I leave a vast majority of my friends behind. I am so sad about leaving my roommates. I love them all so much now; this has been SUCH a fun semester. When I say roommates I include Jordan from last year too, and Elisa from upstairs, who basically lives at our apartment anyway. And I am especially sad because Bre and Erin are going on missions so I won't see them after this semester :( for 1 1/2 years!!! More like 2 because I am gone for the summer months, too. I also will miss my FHE group. They were so fun this semester, my favorite group ever :) I am also sad about leaving the friends Heather has introduced me to. I just love Winnie and Kelsey and Christine and her boys too, but mostly the girls. And Jake. I love that kid.
2. My dating life plummets. Dating in Provo is probably the best ever, and I date often... not so much in Maryland. And the eligible bachelors decrease as well. It might be a little dumb but dating does improve self esteem and happiness level for most girls. I am sad about the boys I am leaving behind, especially the ones I won't see for a long time.
3. My independence and freedom are all but completely revoked. I love my parents a lot. But I have a really hard time not being able to do what I want when I go home. And I'm not planning on doing anything ridiculous, so I wish I could just be trusted. I think Heather will be helpful in this area, she is way more prone to rebel than me I think. I hate arguing so I just don't and sit there depressed instead.
Physically: Packing. It's gonna be a nightmare, just like last year. But this year, me and Heather are packing together so it will be more fun. Also, cleaning checks will be brutal.
I am really worried about going home, mostly for Heather. I know she will be sad about leaving Jake, and I hope I will be able to be a good sister and know what to do to make her happy. Of course, I am happy he's going on a mission, but it doesn't make it any less hard for her :(. she doesn't deal with pointless restrictions as well as I do, I don't think, so we'll see how that goes, too. We are planning on attending institute this summer, so hopefully that will be beneficial for us.
The other day I was walking around campus and it was one of the pretty days, and I was thinking about how beautiful it was and how much I love it here, and I had the strongest urge to sit down on one of the benches and stubbornly tell everyone I would not leave, and I wasn't going anywhere. I resisted, of course, but that's kind of how I feel when I go home.
Here are the things I am excited for, in no particular order:
Seeing my family- I love my family so much. Every single one of them. They are truly my favorite people. I am excited to hang out with them and play with them and talk to them.
Working at PNC- I love doing that, and it's a nice break from school.
Hanging out with Heather G- I love this girl and I am excited to see her!
Eating home cooked meals- You miss that at college.
Summer- I love summer weather!
Doing laundry where it works- Regency laundry sucks.
Making new friends at institute, at work, at parties? I dunno just in general.
Going to the beach- Duhh
Being a healthy volunteer at NIH- I love love love love love being a healthy volunteer. I could do a whole entry on it. I love learning about myself and getting paid good money for it and getting out of the house. Plus, everyone is so nice. I tell people about these all the time, and they always say they'll do it and it sounds so cool. They never do. But that's ok more for me!! I really love Disneyworld, and NIH is like on that same level. I love it. I'm a dork I know.
Exercising with my sisters- I need to do that I totally stopped exercising a while back... :/
I am excited Heather is coming back with me. I would miss her soooo so much if she didn't
Visiting my old high school- I always think it's fun to do :)
Being on the east coast, noottt with all Mormons. I have mixed feelings about this of course, because, as I mentioned before, I love being at BYU where everyone's Mormon. I love not being challenged about standards and other things like that. But I also like to talk about my church with people who have no idea what it is, and to talk to people who think and believe differently. It's refreshing. It's also fun for me to get away from those Mormons that are so self righteous and don't see the world outside of their Utah/ Provo bubble.
Seeing everyone else I am friends with back at home, I am sure I missed a lot, if not the majority.
I'm sure there are more, but I am done for now, it's time to get back to studying!!

Rumor has it... review
Kelly Connor
A tasteless take off of the classic movie The Graduate, Rumor has it… offers a plot thick with sick family connections and catastrophic affairs. Jennifer Aniston stars in this movie that takes the story from where The Graduate left off—and even farther than is easily stomached.
The rumor that The Graduate was based off of a real family in Pasadena has been going around, but Aniston discovers that it is actually based off of her family—her mother and grandmother both slept with the same man. After this disreputable sequence of events, her late mother settled down with another man, Aniston’s father—or is he?
As Aniston digs deeper into her family’s scandalous past, she decides to find out if Beau Boroughs, the man who had this reprehensible affair with her mother and grandmother, is her real father.
This might be a terrible spoiler, but it is probably necessary to note that, when Aniston learns he is not, in fact, her father, due to a “testicular dysfunction”, she quickly ends up sleeping with him, becoming the third generation woman in her family to get cozy with the same man. What’s worse is that as she does this, she is simultaneously throwing her adoring fiancĂ©, played by Mark Ruffalo, under the bus for this slimy billionaire.
As the plot progresses, the possibility of him truly being her father is constantly being flirted with, and the tasteless humor and manner in which the situation is handled is enough to make this movie not even one you should see just for the sake of seeing it.

SLC

Okay guys, so my News Writing class let's us get extra credit for blogging things, so I am starting right now.
The story I'm about to write is about my adventures with Heather, Kelsey, Christine, and Winnie.
So last Friday night, I was going to go to Dance Party Neon- White Out with these girlies. It’s at a club called Studio 600 which is in Salt Lake City, Utah. It’s a Mormon club, so they make sure you’re modest and there’s no alcohol. Because it was a white out, we were supposed to wear all white. We knew it was for people 18 and up, but they never had carded us before, so Heather and Kelsey and I had just brought our Student IDs. The police wouldn’t accept them because they didn’t have our birthdates on them. They were in fact, very rude about it in my opinion. When I showed them my ID, the officer mumbled something and handed it back, and so I just assumed he said I could go in, but when I started walking in, he pushed me back and was like "To get into a CLUB, you need to have a photo id with a birthdate." And other people around us were having issues too. I don't really understand why they suddenly started carding, because there is no alcohol, so I really don't see the issue, it's just dancing. Maybe it was because they were tired of the teeny- boppers making their club less appealing to the college crowd, which I understand, but I think they should have posted that they were checking IDs this time, because it was definitely not on the Facebook event.
Meanwhile, Winnie and Christine got into the club because they had licenses, and Winnie had the car keys, so we couldn’t go back to the car. It was really difficult to communicate, so we decided to try and get a ride, but no one could give us one, because they were either in Salt Lake and going to the club, or didn’t want to drive so far.
It was freezing outside, and we didn’t know what else to do, so we decided to try to find someplace warm. We were wandering around in downtown Salt Lake City, which, do not be deceived, is sketch. We were getting random catcalls and it was scary. The only things open were bars which we couldn’t get into.
So, we ended up going to the Grand America Hotel. It is the nicest hotel I have ever stepped foot in. It is the only 5 star hotel in that part of Salt Lake City. The lobby was the whole first floor, and the bathrooms were humongous. They had chandeliers in each stall and handkerchiefs to wipe your hands off with and the doors were actually doors that had no cracks. The soap and tissues had gold around them, and there were mirrors everywhere. There were tons of vanities that you could touch up with in one section, and couches were everywhere. I’m pretty sure I could live in that bathroom. I felt like a princess.
We proceeded to take a lot of pictures, and Kelsey finally contacted her brother, Grant, and he said he was at a party but he would come get us when the movie ended if no one else could. He also told us to call earlier if we got kicked out of the hotel.
And then I wanted sympathy, but I didn’t wanna make anyone feel like they had to come get us, so I called Katrina, my roomie, who doesn’t have a car, because I knew she’d listen and be nice, and then she was with Breanna, my other roomie who did have a car, and Bre offered to come pick us up.
So we were very nervous about getting kicked out before someone came to get us, because if we did get kicked out, there was literally nowhere for us to go.
So far, the only people we had seen were a janitor who was vacuuming, and a guy who looked like a bell boy. Neither of them said anything to us, but they definitely noticed our presence. We were trying to be quiet enough that they would just leave us alone, and let us stay until we were ready to leave. Finally, we were approached by a hotel Manager. I was very scared when he came up, because I thought he would tell us to leave. Instead, he very kindly asked us, “Are you ladies waiting for someone to pick you up?”
“Yes,” we said.
“And they know to come pick you up here?”
“Yes.”
“Well are you planning on leaving and coming back before they come pick you up?”
“No.”
“Okay, because you need to be careful because the doors will lock behind you, so don’t leave until you are ready to go.”
And we were like.... “Thank you so much!”
Isn’t that so nice? I love him.
And then Winnie called and said they were leaving, so we actually went home with her.
And that’s actually just the beginning of our adventures for that night. I think I’ll give everyone reading a break, though J
